Share Your Giving Nature – with Nature

Every day, we are showered with the gifts of the Earth: air to breathe, cooling rain, nurturing soil, beautiful landscapes, nourishing food, and natural resources. Let’s celebrate those gifts, nurture them, and do what we can to ensure future generations are able to experience these magical moments for the rest of time. Here are three ways to give back to nature this season:

Find your inspiration
We all have a favorite place in nature, and we encourage you to share yours with loved ones. If you have children around, take them outside, show them how much there is to appreciate, and challenge them to think of their favorite places in nature. Make a game of it. Why do you love it there? Why does it inspire you to want to come back? The truth is – it may not be there if we don’t save it. Experiences and appreciation transform the young into stewards of this beautiful planet.

Our Half-Earth Council is comprised of human stewards: sustainability and restoration specialists, public and private conservation leaders, indigenous peoples’ advocates, and biodiversity-minded economists, who all exemplify the spirit of giving through their tireless actions to preserve half the lands and seas for the benefit and security of all life. Our partner and Half-Earth Council member, Kris Tompkins, is a true crusader on behalf of the environment. Giving her energy, time, and wealth to restoring balanced ecosystems, she is a global leader in landscape and species conservation. In addition to purchasing roughly 2 million acres of private land for conservation in Chile and Argentina, under the umbrella organization Tompkins Conservation, Kris and her team have helped protect another 10 million acres of new national parklands in Chile and Argentina.

10 million acres. 10 square feet. 10 dollars. No matter what you have to offer, our collective efforts will safeguard 1 Earth for the rest of life.

Give a gift for your favorite place.

Dedicate a donation to a loved one
Honor the memory of a loved one by making a donation that keeps giving. The Half-Earth Project works toward safeguarding the bulk of biodiversity on Earth. Recently, renowned philanthropist and conservationist Hansjörg Wyss announced a $1 billion donation over the next decade to accelerate land and ocean conservation efforts around the world, with the goal of protecting 30 percent of the planet’s surface by 2030. The donation will support locally-led conservation efforts around the world, push for increased global targets for land and ocean protection, raise public awareness of the importance of this effort, and fund scientific studies.

Invigorate the legacy of those who have left an imprint on your life with a gift that will serve generations to come.

Take the Half Earth Pledge
The COP24 Katowice – United Nations Climate Change Conference ended on a positive note, but there is much work to be done. While global leaders work toward implementing the Paris agreement of 2015, which commits the world to keeping global warming “well below” 2°C relative to pre-industrial times, and preferably within 1.5°C, we can all become part of this historic achievement in our own ways.

Join the Half-Earth Project by taking the pledge.

It declares that, as a global citizen, you pledge to do what you can to safeguard half the Earth’s land and sea by engaging your network, participating in local conservation efforts, and supporting policies that achieve Half-Earth.

It is our moral responsibility to protect biodiversity for the health of the planet, today and for future generations.
Give a gift you can feel good about.
